The occupiers tried to disrupt the humanitarian mission: the guards delivered the Latvian cargo to the Cossack Lopan
Soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine delivered to Cossack Lopani a humanitarian cargo collected under the auspices of the National Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia. Shortly before the arrival of the cargo, the Russian occupiers shelled the village.
Cossack Lopan is recovering from the darkness of the occupation. Today, any assistance to the population of the village is extremely important: the logistics of goods are extremely complicated here, there is no mobile communication, electricity, gas supply, the railway station is no longer working, tracks are destroyed, lines are broken, many houses are broken. The guards delivered food and clothing to the settlement. The cargo was collected in the Republic of Latvia.
“These are food products, clothing for civilians. We also brought military clothing and some equipment for the military from the Republic of Latvia. Since 2015, since the beginning of cooperation between the NGU and the Republic of Latvia, this is already 18 such cargo. But since February 24, this is already the second such delivery of humanitarian aid, the previous one was in June,” explained Viktor Holumbivsky, head of civil and military cooperation of NGU.
The cargo was met by civilians and representatives of self-government bodies. It will be distributed in Cossack Lopan and nearby settlements.
“The Dergachiv community [which includes Kozacha Lopan] is infinitely grateful to the Latvian people and the National Guard of Ukraine, which delivered this cargo, as well as defending our land from the invaders and firmly holding the border. The help is extremely urgent, because now there is no light, no water, no communication in the village. We are trying to restore all this,” said Vyacheslav Zadorenko, the chairman of the Dergachiv territorial community, for the help.
Meanwhile, the occupiers tried to prevent local residents from receiving humanitarian aid. Shortly before the arrival of the cargo, the occupiers shelled the village center, and two people were wounded.
“While people were waiting for humanitarian aid to be delivered, the enemy attacked the center of the village, on a crowd of civilians. A twenty-year-old girl was wounded in the face. Also, the young guy received a penetrating leg wound,” added Vyacheslav Zadorenko.
At the site of the shelling, traces of still unknown ammunition remained on the asphalt, as well as traces of blood.
“There was a loud explosion, followed by several more. I think it's a cluster munition. Within a few minutes we heard screams: the boy led the girl here. She was all in blood: face, hair,” said the resident of the village Oleksandr.
The wounded were evacuated by military medics. Local residents are not surprised by this situation: Russian occupiers periodically hunt for places of humanitarian aid throughout the Kharkiv region. Meanwhile, “humanitarian” for many is the only chance to survive, because not all residents dare to evacuate.
