The heads of the border and customs departments of Ukraine and Moldova signed the Protocol on the organization of joint control at the checkpoint for the railway connection “August 1 — Basarabyaska”
The meeting took place today in online format.
The meeting was attended by the Ukrainian side — Head of the State Border Service Serhiy Deineko, V.O. Head of the State Customs Service Sergey Zvyagintsev, on the Moldovan side — Head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Rosyan Vasiloy and Director of the Customs Service Igor Talmazan.
“Today is an important stage in strengthening relations between our countries. Implementation of the concept of joint control at the railway crossing point will not only intensify trade and economic activity between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, but also strengthen our cooperation in the field of border management. The joint control mechanism will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our border management system. With the joint efforts of our border and customs services, we will be able to more effectively and rationally exercise control over the movement of vehicles and goods on the common border section,” said Serhiy Deineko, Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Our work is focused, first of all, on making services convenient for our citizens, for our business. We see in this great opportunities to expand both our export potential and transit capabilities of Moldova, and in the future, after our Victory, it will contribute to the expansion of exports of Moldovan enterprises to foreign markets using the logistics of the ports of Greater Odessa. This will also in the future serve as an impetus for the growth of investments in terms of business, development of transit potential and logistics routes”, - in turn, said V.O. Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Sergey Zvyagintsev.
Border guards and customs officers of Ukraine and Moldova have agreed in the coming days to start joint control at the joint checkpoint for the Serpneve 1 — Basarabyaska railway connection on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
We note that the decision to carry out control on the territory of Moldova was taken by both Parties, taking into account the availability of the necessary infrastructure for the placement of control bodies of Ukraine and Moldova, which will contribute to reducing the time of control procedures during the crossing of the state border by goods and vehicles.
During the meeting, the Parties also emphasized that the development of joint control leads to positive changes, increases the efficiency and effectiveness of transit operations, improves the level of border security and contributes to the European development of Ukraine and Moldova. The combination of the efforts of border and customs authorities of Ukraine and Moldova will create an even safer and more efficient system of registration of railway transport, in accordance with the best European practices.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine increases the comfort, safety and speed of crossing the border through the introduction of innovations, as well as through international cooperation.
