They set up a torture chamber in the Kherson region and kidnapped people: the suspicion of the Russian military and a collaborator were reported
Law enforcers established that during the occupation of Kherson, the Russian military organized a massacre in the occupied premises of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region. The occupiers brought illegally detained local residents there and subjected them to torture. Law enforcement officers managed to identify the identities of the two executioners.
Investigators found out that in June 2022, a 33-year-old Russian serviceman conspired with a 33-year-old resident of Oleshok, who had earlier accepted an offer to cooperate with the occupiers' security forces. Together, they illegally detained a 40-year-old local resident. The man was put on a bag over his head and brought to the premises of the GUNP in the Kherson region, where they were kept in a temporary detention facility that had not been functioning for many years.
The detainee was imprisoned in a cell unsuitable for prolonged stay of persons in unsanitary conditions. The man was not given food and water, beaten, threatened with murder, and inclined to cooperate with the occupying authorities.
In general, in the basements of the GUNP during the occupation of the city, the Russian military detained and tortured about 90 Ukrainian citizens. The fate of some detainees is still unknown.
At present, the investigators of the Kherson region police identified and reported in absentia about the suspicion of the specified serviceman of the Russian Federation and a citizen of Ukraine in committing crimes stipulated in Part 2 of Art. 28 “Committing a criminal offense by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization”, part 1 of Art. 438 “Violation of the laws and customs of war” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The suspect faces imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years.
