Promised to contribute to the sublease of land: a deputy of the city council was exposed in Bukovina
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that a 56-year-old deputy from Storozhynets, having colluded with a resident of one of the villages, demanded and received from a 39-year-old Bukovinian a bribe in the amount of 2.5 thousand dollars for not interfering with economic activities and allocating a land plot for its management.
As a result of the authorized searches at the place of residence of the defendants, police officers found and seized the illegally received money.
The police detained the men in accordance with Article 208 (Detention by an authorized official) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed them in a temporary detention center.
At the moment, police investigators have informed both defendants of suspicion of criminal offenses. The deputy is suspected of committing the crime provided for in part 3 of article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) and his accomplice is part 5 of article 27 (Types of accomplices) and part 3 of article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit of service person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At the request of law enforcement officers, the court chose preventive measures for offenders in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail. Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.
