Illegal felling of trees in Kyiv region: officials detained who caused damage to the state by UAH 17 million
The former general director of the state-owned enterprise and four of his accomplices will appear before the court. To compensate for the damage caused to the state on the property of the defendants, an arrest was imposed.
It was established that the former general director of a specialized forestry enterprise organized a scheme of illegal logging in the agroforestry enterprises subordinate to him.
The defendants entered false information regarding the area of the plots. This made it possible to avoid obtaining a conclusion from the environmental impact assessment when carrying out continuous sanitary felling over an area of more than hectares. The fabricated documents were approved by the intruders in the relevant regulatory authorities for obtaining permits — logging tickets. Under this scheme, they carried out illegal felling of trees for more than 17 million hryvnias.
The indictment is currently pending before the court. The organizer of the crime and two of his subordinates are accused of illegally chopping down trees in the forests. They face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 7 years.
Two more officials - the director of the forest protection enterprise and the former first deputy head of the regional and city departments of forestry and hunting, are charged with official negligence, they are threatened with imprisonment for up to 5 years.
