“You do not have time to jump to the point, and you are already covered”, — guard Shatun about the situation near Kreminna
Shatun — driver mechanic of BTR. The guy is from Sumy region. He remained on contract with the 15th Slavic Regiment after completing his military service. And it was here that he met a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, carried out tasks for the defense of the north of Donetsk region.
“My task is to transport personnel, carry out fire tasks, deliver ammunition to the guys and so on. It is sometimes very difficult. Sometimes the equipment can break at a very unfavorable moment. Then you need to react quickly to save yourself and the boys. At first we defended Slavyansk. It was important to prevent the Russians from entering the city. It is very important because of its position. The invaders were already very close, reaching the center with artillery. We stayed on the outskirts of the city for quite a long time. Time passed and we were given the task to move in the direction of Kreminna, - explains the national guard.
Satun, as a driver mechanic of the BTR, took part in evacuation measures, in maneuvers in the Serebryansk forest. It is being in that area that carries a considerable risk to life.
“It is very difficult in the forest near Kreminna. You are constantly under fire. The enemy there prevails in artillery, and the road is shot through. When you go to a position, there is no right to make a mistake, because, conditionally speaking, 200 meters and already the enemy. You do not have time to jump to the point, and you are already covered. But we stand, no one is going to run away! We will fight, no matter what it costs us, I am sure of my brothers,” Shatun shares.
The soldiers of the 15th Slavic Regiment of the National Guard are a specific component of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. They are professionally destroying Russian invaders on the eastern borders, desperately fighting for the will and sovereignty of Ukrainian lands.
