The most widespread forms of human trafficking are labor and sexual exploitation. At the same time, it can be slavery, organ trafficking, use in begging, involvement in criminal activities, sale of children. deputy minister of internal affairs of Ukraine Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
“Today, in the context of war, and when we have a large number of displaced persons and those who have gone abroad, there is a great risk that they may fall into a situation of human trafficking at the time of finding work. We understand that in most cases it is women and children. When we talk about human trafficking, the most common types are labor and sexual exploitation. At the same time, it can be slavery, organ trafficking, use in begging, involvement in criminal activities, sale of children,” said Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
According to the Deputy Minister, there is a unit in the National Police — the migration police, whose activities are aimed at recording, detecting and investigating cases of human trafficking.
“They work closely with Interpol, Europol and, if there is such a situation, they liaise with the police of other countries. The ones where many of our citizens are now are relevant. Police officers go on business trips to such countries. During the war, 12 criminal proceedings have already been opened in connection with human trafficking, among them there are situations of child trafficking,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.
