The National Police conducts comprehensive work to combat the illegal circulation of weapons — Igor Klymenko
The head of the National Police of Ukraine told about this today, July 28, on the air of the tele-marathon “United News”.
According to Igor Klymenko, the police constantly pay attention to the prevention and documentation of the facts of illegal circulation of weapons. At the same time, the main load lies on the checkpoints, of which more than 700 operate in the state.
“In fact, half of the weapons seized were discovered just during checks at checkpoints. Let me give an example: 630 units of weapons, 45,000 rounds, 350 grenades — this is what could have gone into peaceful life and used by criminals. This work takes place around the clock, because someone puts down this weapon for a “black day”, someone transfers it to criminals. The fact that weapons are in their hands is already a danger to every citizen,” the head of the National Police said.
He also stressed the need to account for legally issued weapons to citizens: “My position and the position of the National Police: first — accounting for all weapons, and after that we can start a broad discussion on the legalization of short-barreled weapons. A broad discussion is needed, because the legalization of weapons will concern the safety of every citizen of Ukraine.”
