The National Police stopped the activities of an organized crime group that traded cars for the Armed Forces received as humanitarian aid
Since April this year, the members of the group under the guise of a charitable organization have imported 135 cars into the territory of Ukraine for further sale for the purpose of their own enrichment.
Police officers of the Main Investigation Department under the operational support of the Criminal Investigation Department together with the Criminal Analysis Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Service exposed the criminal activity.
According to the investigation, a resident of the Dnieper, who founded a charitable organization, organized the criminal transaction. During the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, he and his accomplices traveled abroad and, under the guise of charity, imported cars received as humanitarian aid into the territory of Ukraine. In the future, instead of handing over vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attackers sold them for profit.
In the course of documenting the criminal activities of the group, the police conducted an operational purchase of three vehicles in the city. Dnipro. It was established that the attackers traded cars also in the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions.
During 30 searches at the addresses of residence and activities of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized 33 cars imported into the territory of Ukraine as humanitarian aid, as well as other material evidence of their illegal activities.
Investigative actions are carried out within the framework of open criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use for the purpose of obtaining profit of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous assistance). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to seven years with confiscation of property. Procedural guidance is carried out by prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
