The National Police blocked the channel of smuggling of illegal drugs
Four men set up an illegal scheme for the supply of potent drugs from the Republic of Moldova to the territory of Ukraine. They advertised drugs banned for sale in Ukraine on their own website, which was administered by the leader of the group, and sold “goods” throughout the country, sending orders using a postal service.
The police seized medicines worth more than a million hryvnias from the defendants. For organizing such a business, they face up to 10 years in prison.
It was established that the illegal business was organized by a Kyiv resident who regularly changed his place of residence in different regions of the country for the purpose of conspiracy. He established an illegal supply channel from the Republic of Moldova of potent drugs that have an anabolic effect and contain methandienone, a substance that is prohibited for circulation in Ukraine.
To sell drugs, the attacker created and administered an online platform, where he offered the entire range of “goods”, and for their direct sale attracted three men. Each of the defendants was responsible for his direction of work: packing medicines, processing online orders and sending “goods”.
The business brought the defendants about a million hryvnias of profit per month. Law enforcement officers, with the strong support of the soldiers of the special unit of TOR, conducted authorized searches in the apartments and cars of the defendants. During the investigative actions, about seven thousand units of various medicines of foreign production were seized, which are prohibited for sale in Ukraine. According to preliminary estimates, their estimated cost at “black” market prices is more than one million hryvnias.
Investigators prepare for the defendants a report of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 321 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, transportation, shipment, storage for the purpose of sale or sale of poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent drugs in particularly large quantities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
