National tour “Cinema for Victory!”: Bohdan Beniuk presented the Ukrainian road-boat “Skhidnyak” to the guards.
Another screening of the film tour took place in the Kiev region. The soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine watched the film “Skhidnyak” with Bohdan Benyuk in one of the main roles.
“Skhidnyak” is a Ukrainian comedy road movie based on real stories from life in ATO. This is the debut film of director Andriy Ivaniuk (Andy Iva), based on his personal story, and a real benefit of Bogdan Beniuk.
He plays a restless optimist with the call sign “Beard”, able to solve any question. “Beard” is sent to headquarters to “knock out” everything necessary to provide for his unit. As partners, he takes a newcomer, who is called “Director”. Together they will have to drive through checkpoints, frontline towns and villages, meet military and civilians, and get into a variety of troubles—funny and not so much.
Bohdan Beniuk personally presented the picture to the fighters and talked with them for a long time. “This is an extremely important tour: it gives filmmakers an opportunity to express tremendous gratitude and respect to the military. And cinema motivates, inspires warriors and provides an opportunity for creative respite. And most importantly, the tour once again emphasizes the unity of the Ukrainian people and absolute conviction in the upcoming Victory!” - the actor is convinced.
In turn, the guards say that watching Ukrainian cinema, communicating with actors lift the mood, strengthen morale and motivation.
National tour “Cinema for Victory!” will last until the end of September 2022 and cover 15 regions of Ukraine. The project is being implemented on the initiative of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the State Film Agency of Ukraine, the Association “Look Ukrainian!” with the support of the MCHP-Hromada Foundation and Deloitte in Ukraine, with the assistance of the company “Vavilon”, NGO “Ukrkinofest”, NGO “Union of TV and Film Industry Entrepreneurs”, separate units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine in cooperation with the regional military-civilian administrations and the National Police of Ukraine.
