National Guardsman from Rubezhny told about the fighting for Luhansk region
Vladislav met a full-scale invasion of the Russian invaders as part of the rifle battalion of the 15th Slavic Regiment. His unit was then based in Rubezhnoe and demonstrated extraordinary resilience in the fighting for Luhansk region.
“I first learned about the invasion from my wife. She was then on the outskirts of Kharkov. During her call, explosions were heard. I realized that the snowman was already somewhere near her at that moment,” says Vladyslav.
In the early days, he participated in patrolling and preventive measures in Rubezhnoe, managed a checkpoint and built positions in the area of the reinforced concrete structure plant. Meanwhile, the situation was rapidly deteriorating — the front was approaching. In mid-March, the enemy had already shelled their positions from GRAD installations and mortars, leaving a distance of 2 to 5 km.
“At night, our colleagues with a fight withdrew to more advantageous positions. Our WTO has become the far left corner in defense — the Russian military knew about it, but to the last could not calculate where we are concentrating and where our observation posts are located. The first in the “reconnaissance battle” was the detachment of the so-called “Elenerians”. They had an order to occupy our positions,” Vladislav recalls the battle that took place in the evening of April 25.
Then they took one prisoner and blew up the enemy's car, which turned out to be loaded with ammunition. The four occupiers remained there forever. The Russians then used a massive shelling of the Southern Rubezhny microdistrict, using 120-caliber mortars and barrel artillery.
“On the same night, we already heard how they pulled up armored vehicles. In the morning there was a fight again. The fire was fired from a distance of 400-600 meters. During the battle, we understood that machine gun and grenade calculations were working on us from the rear. This made it very difficult for us to evacuate the wounded and the dead, but we persevered. On the morning of April 27, we were replaced by the personnel of the “Svoboda” battalion, - Vladislav shares.
Next were the outskirts of Lisichansk and the move to Novodruzhesk. The task was to maintain the right bank of the river Siversky Donets. After that, the unit of the guard was to establish itself on one of the central streets of Sirotyne. But already on the third day, gunfights began again - it turned out that in some houses of the same street the occupiers were already hiding and watching the Ukrainian defenders, waiting for the right moment. The main forces of the enemy began to approach. The Guardsmen held the position until they received the order to covertly force the river. It was possible to do this without loss among the personnel.
The fighters of the rifle battalion from Rubezhny continue to fight and do their best for the de-occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Vladislav dreams that he will soon be able to return to the peaceful Ukrainian Sirotin, which he fought with weapons in his hands, and where once, before a full-scale invasion, he prepared children to participate in the patriotic game “Dzhura”.
