National Guardsmen won their first medals at the Invincible Games 2023
Yesterday, September 10, the qualification for athletics at the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 took place in the German city of Düsseldorf. Ukraine and our national guards already have prize places and medals, said the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Pivnenko in his Telegram channel.
Instructor of the National Guard Volodymyr Tovkis won bronze in the If2 category in the discus throw. And guard Vitaliy Borodavka in IT7 category in 100m running — 12:36, the first in his race. Vitaly goes to the final in his discipline, which is scheduled to take place on September 11.
This year, the team of the Inconquered Games is represented by 3 servicemen of the National Guard. Recall that the Games of the Invincibles will run from September 9 to 16 and will bring together about 600 participants from 22 countries.
At the opening of the Unconquered Games, the Ukrainian national team was greeted with applause, because now all the attention of the world is tied to our military. The Ukrainian national team consisted of 25 participants: military and volunteers of the Armed Forces, National Guard, National Police and volunteer battalions. This is the largest representation of Ukraine in the history of its participation in the Invictus Games.
The tournament, which was launched by Britain's Prince Harry, has been held since 2014. Currently, the competition program includes ten sports: archery, track and field, rowing on simulators, powerlifting, swimming, cycling, sitting volleyball, basketball and wheelchair rugby, and — for the first time in history — table tennis. Ukraine debuted at the Games undefeated in 2017, so this year's competition is the fourth in our history.
