Chernigov National Guard told how they repelled the attack of the Russians during a full-scale invasion
The city of Chernihiv became a northern outpost during the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine. The regional center stands on the road between the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian capital, where columns of Russian troops tried to break through to Kiev. But the occupiers did not take into account that the Chernihiv garrison was able to give a decent fight.
After several unsuccessful attempts to storm the city, the Russian occupation forces suffered losses in equipment and manpower, retreated and began shelling Chernihiv with heavy weapons: leveling it with the ground.
Strategic targets were hit. The city was almost immediately left without water, electricity, communications.
Subsequently, the enemy destroyed all avenues for the evacuation of civilians, shelling residential buildings, hotels, hospitals and even a cemetery and a stadium.
Among the defenders of the city were servicemen of the Chernihiv battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine.
They defended the city in the north and northeast, evacuated civilians during enemy shelling, and Guard medics provided medical assistance to anyone who needed it.
