Members of the criminal group who appropriated more than UAH 4 million of “Chernobyl” funds will be tried in Zhytomyr region
Among the accused are exhibitors of the regional and district state administrations and three of their accomplices. Operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in Zhytomyr region and investigators of the regional police received evidence of the involvement of the attackers in the criminal scheme.
According to the investigation, the defendants initially sought out pseudo-migrants and registered them in the houses of radiation-contaminated villages. In the future, they bought housing for them in a safe zone, although they did not actually move anywhere. The houses in the contaminated area were bought at an inflated cost after the assessment was carried out. Although such an operation was carried out only on paper. According to this scheme, the members of the organized group reimbursed the pseudo-migrants more than 4 million UAH of budget funds, which they distributed among themselves over several years.
The indictment, in agreement with the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office, was sent to the court. A former official of the regional state administration is charged with committing a crime provided for in Part 1, 2 of Article 367 (official negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Three officials of the district state administration — Part 4, 5 of Article 191 (appropriation of budget funds by abuse of official position) and Part 1, 2 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Two accomplices are charged with committing the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the appraiser is part 5 of article 191 and part 2, 3 of article 365-2 (abuse of authority of a person providing public services) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In order to compensate for damage to the property of the accused, arrests were imposed for a total amount of UAH 25 million.
