In Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers sent to court the indictment of an employee in illegal mining of gabbro worth almost 40 million hryvnias
In early June, police investigators completed a pre-trial investigation into the criminal acts of the director of the enterprise, who, abusing his official powers, organized the illegal mining of gabbro. The man faces up to 8 years in prison.
The detection of illegal activity took place in the cooperation of investigators of the police department №4 (village Khoroshiv) of Zhytomyr RUP with employees of the USBU region under the procedural leadership of the Korostyshiv District Prosecutor's Office.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers found that a 37-year-old resident of the city. Chernivtsiv, as the head of the subsoil mining company in Zhytomyr region, received permits for the use of the land plot.
However, as law enforcement officials found out, mining of a mineral of national importance - gabbro - took place outside certain limits. To do this, the director voluntarily organized the work of the quarry, where from autumn 2018 to December 2021 more than 9390 m2 of valuable rock were mined.
The conclusions of the engineering and environmental expertise prove that as a result of such illegal activities, the amount of damage caused to the state reached almost UAH 40 million, which caused serious consequences.
Therefore, in mid-May, police investigators, in agreement with the procedural heads of the district prosecutor's office, declared the 37-year-old director of the enterprise suspected of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Art. 240 (Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil, illegal extraction of minerals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The other day, the law enforcement officer announced another suspicion — under Part 2 of Art. 364-1 (Abuse of powers by an official of a legal entity of private law, regardless of the organizational and legal form) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Now the pre-trial investigation is completed, and the indictment on June 6 against the head of the company is sent to court. In accordance with the current legislation, for the totality of acts, a man is threatened with imprisonment for a period of 5 to 8 years.
