Carriers were detained in Transcarpathia, transporting Afghans in masked robes to the border
Illegal migrants and their alleged traffickers were detained for days on the outskirts of N.P. Velyka Biygan of Berhiv district of Transcarpathian region.
Officers of the operational unit of the Mukachevo border detachment learned about the possible offense. According to their information, an interdepartmental group of border guards, employees of the National Police and the SBU stopped two cars driven by citizens of Ukraine. The events were held under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the military and defense sphere with the strong support of the special officers of the DOZOR unit.
In one of the cars, in addition to the driver, were two men and two women who had passports of Afghan citizens. The foreigners were dressed in white robes. According to border guards, the carriers aimed to illegally transport Afghans across the border into Hungary.
According to law enforcement officials, men detained on suspicion of aiding illegal immigrants have been involved since September 2021 in attempts to organize the illegal movement of at least 13 foreigners across the Ukrainian border. For the transfer of one person, criminals demanded from 5 to 6 thousand US dollars. The actions of detained Ukrainians contain signs of a crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 332 Criminal Code (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine). At present, according to the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, they have already been notified of the suspicion of committing this crime. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
In the evening of the same day, an interdepartmental group of operatives and employees of the internal security department of the Mukachevo border detachment, with the participation of the representative of the prosecutor's office in the military and defense sphere, the investigator of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region with the involvement of DoZOR fighters, at the place of residence of the organizer of the illegal group conducted an authorized search, during which items were found that may indicate the preparation and commission of a crime.
