Transcarpathia presented the state award to the family of the deceased national guard
The leadership of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration Viktor Nikita presented the widow of the National Guardsman Dmitry Mazny Oksana Smirnova with her husband's award.
A senior sergeant of the National Guard was killed during the defense of Mariupol from the Russian invaders. For his personal courage and selfless actions in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath Dmytro Mazny was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree (posthumously) by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 540/2022.
“Dmitry served in the Azov regiment since 2014, defended Shyrokina, had injuries and contusions, and resigned in 2017. He studied music and taught teenagers to play musical instruments in our youth center. That's when our family story began. From the first days of the Russian invasion, he immediately joined his unit and, together with his brothers, defended our city. He was a true patriot who defended his native land from the enemy,” said Oksana Smirnova, the widow of the National Guard.
Dmitry served in the regiment “Azov” as a machine gunner. During the defense of the metallurgical plant “Azovstal” received injuries incompatible with life. Dmitry had a 7-year-old son and wife. The leadership of the military administration and officers of the National Guard of Ukraine promised that the feat of Dmitry Mazny will not be forgotten, and the close ones of the guard will be provided with comprehensive assistance at any time.
The National Guard of Ukraine takes care of the social protection of servicemen and their family members, takes care of the wounded and the families of the dead.
