In Vinnytsia region, border guards detained organizers of illegal transportation of persons across the border
As part of the criminal proceedings, the employees of the operational unit of the Mogilev-Podolsk detachment established that for a certain reward, two residents of the city of Mogilev-Podolsky organized the transfer of men of conscription age to Moldova.
Border guards carried out a number of operational measures to expose intruders. During one of them, using camouflage means, border guards were detained near the state border on the banks of the Dniester.
35-year-old citizen of Ukraine and two of his “wards” - persons of conscription age. The men planned to travel to Moldova on an inflatable boat. Realizing that they had been exposed, the offenders tried to escape. The men abandoned the boat and rushed into the river, but, hearing shots behind their backs, did not dare to continue their escape. In order to stop the offenders, the border guards fired warning shots up.
In the course of further investigative actions, border guards together with employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the GUNP in Vinnytsia region detained another local resident involved in illegal movement of persons across the state border.
Also, during the authorized searches of the private dwellings of the “organizers”, law enforcement officers found and seized mobile terminals, SIM cards and four passenger cars.
The organizers of the illegal transfer of persons were handed a notice of suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 3 of Art. 332 Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine”.
They face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 7 to 9 years.
Two “evaders” were brought to justice under Article 204-1 of the KUPAP “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”. Investigative actions continue.
