1400 police officers have already volunteered for the selection of security officers in educational institutions, - Igor Klymenko (VIDEO)
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko during the final interview to the National Telemarathon “United News”. The Minister stressed that the officer of the Educational Security Service is not a security guard, but a professional official who, together with the administration of the educational institution, will be responsible for the entire range of security measures, starting with the admission of children to the school premises.
“Citizens of Ukraine should clearly understand that the safety of our children is the security of our state,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed.
In particular, he explained why law enforcement started with children. Because it is, firstly, the most unprotected part of the population. Secondly, children suffer psychologically from the war, and before the war there were quarantines.
“There are constant anxieties, and the psyche of not all children can withstand it,” he noted.
That is why the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the framework of a complex of measures to create a safe environment, decided to pay primary attention to educational institutions, and now these are about 10,000 secondary schools operating either in mixed (full-time) or full-time mode.
In addition, Igor Klymenko drew attention to those schools that are close to the Belarusian border or to the border with regions where active hostilities are taking place, which first of all need to strengthen security measures.
Also, the officer will respond to the penetration of outsiders into the school, to the appeals of parents, teachers and children, and will monitor the evacuation of children to the shelter during the air alarm.
“And here we are talking about protecting both children and teaching staff as much as possible in conditions where there are a lot of weapons and explosives in their hands, and we say that this security police is a person who should think together with his leadership a set of security measures for the school, starting from its perimeter,” the Minister stressed Estr.
To the journalist's clarifying question about whether such security officers will be in every school, and the educational institution itself will be equipped with security frameworks through which students and teachers will pass, Igor Klymenko replied that yes, but gradually.
“There are economic justifications that we have already considered in the Cabinet of Ministers. Because there are large schools, there are schools of 2 buildings or 3 buildings. Such schools, for example 2000. And so, if, for example, this is a large school, we are talking about the framework through which children and adults will pass teaching staff, service personnel, of course, according to the relevant documents,” he said.
And if this is a school for 100 students, then, according to the Minister, police officers with a metal detector will work there.
Also, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is planned to place video surveillance cameras in schools.
“To date, 1400 of our police officers have already volunteered to participate in the selection for the position of school police security officer,” he said.
Of them, at the first stage, it is planned to select no more than 500, who will already pass the advanced training course and will already enter the service in educational institutions. They are to be replaced by security officers, who will soon be recruited as part of a recruitment campaign.
The first officers of the Educational Security Service, he predicted, will enter the service of the first group of schools as early as March of this year.
