There are 524 checkpoints on the territory of Ukraine, where more than 1.6 thousand police officers are on duty, - Alyona Matveeva
This was reported by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Alyona Matveeva during a weekly briefing in Ukrinform.
“We understand that due to increased security measures, some citizens may experience additional difficulties. But the security of citizens is in the first place for us, so checkpoints are not always convenient, but effective, they bring real benefits,” Alyona Matveeva noted.
Alyona Matveeva said that so far, thanks to the work of checkpoints, 909 cars and 314 people who were wanted; 41 missing persons; 2713 suspicious persons, who are probably involved in sabotage and collaboration activities (of which 1767 people were transferred to the SBU); more than 600 units of firearms; almost 40 thousand rounds; 296 grenades and explosive devices; 157 units of cold weapons.
“Listing these figures, it can be understood that the checkpoints are really effective and beneficial,” the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs summed up.
