Recently, in Sumy region, law enforcement officers exposed and stopped the criminal activity of a person who was engaged in illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, knowing with certainty that due to military aggression and the introduction of martial law, the checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine are temporarily closed, the suspect decided to organize the illegal transfer of persons to the territory of the Russian Federation through the Republic of Moldova.
Using the means of conspiracy, the man found two residents of Sumy region who wanted to leave for the territory of the aggressor country. He valued his services at 6 thousand 500 US dollars.
Law enforcement officers detained the man after receiving part of the agreed amount in the amount of 3 thousand US dollars. The detainee is a native of Russia, recently lived in the Luhansk region, and since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion he has been registered as an internally displaced person in Kyiv.
At the request of the investigator and the prosecutor by the court decision, the suspect has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative of UAH 80,000 bail, and he has also been declared suspected of committing a crime.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The events were held under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a joint interdepartmental group, which included employees of the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the Sumy Border Detachment, investigators of the Investigative Department and employees of the fourth operational department (with a location in the city. Sumy) of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in the city of Poltava and employees of the Office of Strategic Investigations in Sumy Oblast.
