In Rivne region, police seized more than 350 kilograms of amber from a resident of Sarnensky district
At the prices of the “black” market, the cost of the extracted stones is more than one and a half million hryvnias.
Police officers, who were on duty at a checkpoint in the Sarno district, stopped the Volkswagen Crafter car. During the inspection of the transport, law enforcement officers found bags, the contents of which raised doubts. However, the 29-year-old driver refused to show what he was carrying.
An investigative task force arrived at the scene, which documented the criminal offense. The information was submitted to the ERDR according to the preliminary legal qualification of Part 1 of Art. 240-1 (illegal transportation of amber) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigator sent a petition to the court to arrest the vehicle.
During the search of the car, law enforcement officers found and seized amber stones of various fractions, packaged in 19 utility bags with a total weight of 355 kilograms.
The removed will be referred for a hematological examination. In addition, the investigators prepared a petition to arrest the seized. As part of criminal proceedings, police establish the origin of raw amber.
