In the Carpathian region, police seized UAH 30 million from illegal drug trafficking
Dealers were engaged in the cultivation and processing of hemp for sale. Drugs, weapons and ammunition were seized from the defendants.
As established by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police, a previously convicted local resident established the “agro-drug business”. He attracted three people to his accomplices.
To do this, four plots of land were sown with hemp, and in order not to attract attention to crops, they chose land near the settlement among forest plantations. Each of the participants of the grouping was responsible for its direction: preparation of land plots and their sowing, the process of caring for plants, harvesting, drying, packaging and sale of finished drug products. Sold goods on the territory of the region.
Yesterday, August 15, operatives and investigators with the force support of special officers of the KORD and a special police company detained three members of the group and conducted 18 court-sanctioned searches. Hemp bushes with a total weight of more than 1000 kg, almost 4.5 kg of ready-to-market “products”, three bags of plant inflorescences, kilograms of so-called “cones” were removed. In addition, grenades, pistols, ammunition and more than 94,000 hryvnias.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of seized narcotic substances reaches UAH 30 million.
At the moment, the organizer of the “business” has been informed of the suspicion and a preventive measure has been chosen in the form of detention. Its actions are qualified under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives); Article 307 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues); Art. 310 (Sowing or growing dreamy poppy or hemp).
The issue of reporting suspicions to detained defendants and choosing preventive measures for them is resolved. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
