In Poltava region, a group of lawyers involved in corruption was exposed
The corruption scheme was exposed by the operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Poltava region of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine, the NABU detectives under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. According to the investigation, two lawyers and an assistant lawyer are involved in its organization. The latter acted as an intermediary.
During the investigation, the facts of receipt by the defendants in several stages of 1800 US dollars were documented. For the specified amount, the judges of the court of appeal guaranteed a decision in favor of the violator of traffic rules, namely, the cancellation of the decision of the court of first instance and the closure of the proceedings due to the absence of an administrative offense in his actions. After the interested person received the relevant court decision, the law enforcement officers sanctioned regulated searches at the place of work and residence of persons involved in the scheme and persons involved in the scheme.
Among the seized funds were found banknotes received as illegal benefits. In addition, 6,760 euros, 117,000 US dollars, jewelry and jewelry, gold bars and coins, as well as a copy of the protocol on administrative offense, in which 1,100 US dollars were wrapped, were seized at the place of storage of the property of one of the participants.
On the basis of the evidence received, two lawyers and an assistant were informed of the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 3 of Art. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefits to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The seized property was arrested. The sanction of the article provides for punishment — imprisonment for a term of four to eight years with or without confiscation of property.
