In Poltava region, the National Police detained an official for recruiting entrepreneurs from the sphere of providing ritual services
25% of the money earned from the transportation of dead soldiers had to be given to entrepreneurs in order to carry out their economic activities without hindrance.
The deputy head of the municipal enterprise of funeral and funeral service of the Poltava City Council is involved in the organization of the corruption scheme.
As established by law enforcement officers, the official systematically demanded illegal benefits from entrepreneurs for unimpeded economic activities for the provision of ritual services. In case of refusal, they were simply not allowed to work by creating artificial obstacles.
During the investigation, it was documented that an official demanded 25% in cash from one of the entrepreneurs of the amount earned from the transportation of dead servicemen. This amount the businessman had to pay monthly. In addition, to pay an additional 500 hryvnias for each catapult that enters the cemetery.
On April 13, operatives, investigators and prosecutors detained the utility officer in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine during the transfer of the next “tranche”. The detained official was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The question of choosing a precautionary measure is being resolved.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings, the involvement of other persons in the corruption scheme is checked.
Thus, a suspect may be threatened with imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
