Border sign installed on Snake Island (VIDEO)
August 12 at the o. Zmiiny was erected a border sign, the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko announced this.
“Historical justice has been restored by the soldiers of the State Border Guard Service with the full support of the servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense,” Serhiy Deineko noted.
The sign was installed instead of the one that was destroyed by Russian soldiers at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It was recovered on the island by the troops of the Izmail border detachment with the support of colleagues from the Main Intelligence Directorate.
“We remember everyone who freed O. Serpent, we remember everyone who liberates our every piece of land. And we will certainly return our entire territory. Glory to Ukraine”, - Dmytro Usov, Deputy Head of GUR MO, noted.
Snake Island is a symbol of Ukrainian invulnerability. During the full-scale invasion of Russia, it was defended by border guards and soldiers of the Armed Forces. All of them after the attacks of the invaders fell into Russian captivity. Some of them, unfortunately, are still in captivity with the occupiers and Ukraine is doing everything possible to return them home.
Defending the island, the Ukrainian border guard spoke words that indicated the direction of the Russian ship. This phrase has become a winged phrase and a symbol of Ukraine's resistance in the war with Russia, it inspires the whole people of Ukraine to fight.
After heavy fighting, the Ukrainian military liberated the island from the invaders at the end of June last year and regained control of it. Also, for a minute of silence, the military honored the fallen comrades.
