In Odessa region, police detained a criminal group that committed robbery attacks on entrepreneurs
The criminal group included five residents of the Odessa region aged 37 to 53, previously convicted of property crimes. For each attack, the accomplices carefully prepared, took conspiracy measures.
It was established that the attackers were based at the maintenance station of a younger man. There, future victims were selected and questions about further criminal actions were discussed.
The accomplices acted according to the same scenario — they penetrated into residential buildings by squeezing metal-plastic windows, threatened the owners with weapons, tied with ropes, put pillowcases on their heads, beat mercilessly until the victims gave money and jewelry.
It was established that offenders may be involved in committing four such robbery attacks on the territory of Odessa district.
They were exposed and detained by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the GUNP in the Odessa region with the force support of the special unit “KORD”. During the sanctioned activities, police officers seized gold jewelry and bank cards belonging to the victims, mobile phones, balaclavas, black uniforms without identification marks, plastic clips, adhesive tapes, tear spray cans, pistol of unknown origin, grenade type “F-1" and other things that indicate involvement in crimes.
Investigators of the police department No. 1 of the Odessa district police department No. 2 under the procedural guidance of the Black Sea District Prosecutor's Office of the Odessa region informed the attackers about the suspicion under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspects in the form of detention.
Men face imprisonment for a term of eight to fifteen years with confiscation of property.
