In Odesa region, teenagers set fire to an explosive object because they thought it was a firework: they were hospitalized with burns to their hands and face
On a daily basis, pyrotechnics carry out expeditions to detect and defuse explosive objects that remain on our land as a result of Russian aggression. Over the past day, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service were involved 113 times. They discovered and defused 177 explosive devices.
However, despite statistics and warnings, tragic cases happen because of curiosity.
The other day in the village of Zakharivka, Odessa region, two boys were injured due to careless handling of GNP. It was previously established that friends between the ages of 13 and 15 were playing near the house, where, according to the boys, they found a volley in the form of a cylinder and decided to set it on fire with matches. The teenagers had just done it, as the cylinder exploded.
The boys were taken to the hospital with second-degree thermal and chemical burns of the face and hands. At the moment, the lives of the young men are not in danger. A juvenile prevention inspector, an investigator and a forensic scientist continue to work at the scene. The full circumstances of the incident are established.
The police urge parents to explain to children that any finds similar to pyrotechnic articles, explosive devices, etc. cannot be touched until the entire territory of Ukraine is demilitarized.
If you see an object similar to an explosive or projectile, remember that it is strictly forbidden:
- to touch the object and move it; - to use radio communications, mobile phones (they can provoke an explosion);
- fill it with liquids, cover it with soil or cover it with something;
- touch suspicious device and exert sound, light, thermal or mechanical effects on it, because almost all explosive substances are poisonous and sensitive to mechanical, sound and heat effects.
If explosive devices are detected, call 101 or 102.
