In Mykolaiv region, cyber police exposed a fraudster on the sale of non-existent military ammunition

A resident of Pervomaisk, having created accounts on the platform of one of the messengers, looked for volunteers from Dnipro who collected funds to help the army. The defendant sold them helmets, unpacks, body armor, which he really did not have. For the crime, the man faces up to three years in prison.

On May 18, employees of the Department of Combating Cybercrime in the Nikolaev area DKP NPU together with investigators and deputies of the Pervomaysky District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor's Office stopped the illegal activities of a 20-year-old resident of the district center.

Cyberpolice found that the attacker created fake accounts and posted ads about the sale of military ammunition - helmets, unpacks, body armor and more. The main condition of the defendant was the full payment of the non-existent goods. The funds of the victims were transferred to the accounts of the attacker, which he issued to fraudulent persons. After receiving the money, the scammer immediately disappeared and deleted the account.

Also, the police found out that in this way a resident of Pervomaisk searched for volunteers from the city. Dnipro, who collected funds to help the army. At the moment, the final number of victims of the man's fraudulent actions and the amount of damage caused to them are being established.

During the search at the place of residence of the man, investigators seized computer equipment and mobile phones with accounts confirming the facts of criminal activity of the fraudster, as well as bank cards and SIM cards of various mobile operators. Everything removed is sent for examination.

As the police found out, the man was already brought to criminal responsibility for committing a similar crime, but he was released on the basis of Art. 75 “Exemption from serving a sentence with probation” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On May 20, in agreement with the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor's Office, the investigators informed the man about the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Fraud”, for which he faces up to three years in prison.

The question of choosing a precautionary measure for the suspect is currently being decided. The investigation is ongoing.
