International channel of supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for 16 million hryvnias was stopped in Lviv region
Operational officers of the Lviv Border Patrol, together with employees of the National Police and the State Customs Service of Ukraine, exposed a criminal group that established a smuggling channel for the supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities from the EU countries.
Law enforcement officials found that the 28-year-old resident of Kiev purchased narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances abroad. In the future, the attacker delivered “parcels” by regular bus to Ukraine, disguising psychotropics as food products.
After receiving the goods, her accomplice, a 25-year-old Lviv resident, organized the distribution of drugs through the Telegram channel. The man also sold psychotropics in wholesale batches, in a hidden form, with the help of delivery services on the territory of Ukraine. Calculation for psychotropic substances was carried out in a cashless way using cryptocurrencies.
During searches of the places of residence of intruders, law enforcement officers found and seized 12,970 tablets of different colors, outwardly similar to the psychotropic substance “MDMA”, a crystal-like substance weighing about 1950 grams, a psychotropic substance “Ketamine”, a total weight of about 580 grams, 3000 marks psychotropic substance “LSD”, as well as other items indicating involvement in illegal activities.
The cost of the “black” market withdrawn at prices is about 16 million hryvnias.
The defendants of the proceedings were detained in accordance with Art. 208 Code of Criminal Procedure and Suspicions Announced. The court chose a preventive measure for offenders in the form of detention without the right to make bail.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway in criminal proceedings opened under Part 3 of Art. 305 of the Criminal Code (Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit medicines) and part 3 of Art. 307 Criminal Code (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues).
The sanctions of the articles provide for penalties - imprisonment for a term of ten to twelve years with confiscation of property and from six to ten years with confiscation of property. Investigative actions continue.
