In Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed a shop where cigarettes were illegally produced on a large scale
According to the results of investigative actions in one of the border villages of Lviv region, a line for the illegal production of tobacco products with a filter of the full production cycle was discovered.
The underground line, on which the illegal production of smoke in large volumes was established, was exposed thanks to the hard work of the operational units of the State Border Guard Service, including, using the possibilities of criminal analysis, and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Also on the site were discovered modern equipment, in particular a packaging machine and its components, a large number of finished tobacco products with a filter of several well-known brands, raw materials and packaging materials. In addition, during the events, 12 citizens of Ukraine, residents of eastern, central and western regions, who directly serviced the specified equipment were identified.
Measures to document and expose the offense were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings with the participation of operatives, criminal analysts of the Mukachevo border detachment and the SBU, as well as with the strong support of the special unit of the State Border Service “DOZOR”.
The estimated amount of detected equipment and manufactured counterfeit tobacco products in the shadow market is more than UAH 37,000,000. The products produced in clandestine production were intended for distribution among merchants in border areas engaged in smuggling of tobacco to EU countries.
The pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings under the specified circumstances is carried out by the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the SBU under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the operational support of the Main Operations and Investigation Department of the Mukachevo Border Detachment and the operational staff of the SBU.
