In Lviv region, law enforcement officers reported on suspicion of the organizer of a criminal group whose members stole military ammunition
The perpetrators, who illegally sold military equipment brought to Ukraine as humanitarian aid, were exposed by the operatives of the Department of Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region together with the investigators of the Lviv region police, under the procedural guidance of the specialized prosecutor's office in the military and defense sphere of the Western region Well.
As law enforcement officials established, the attackers organized an illegal scheme to import ammunition into Ukraine allegedly for the needs of military personnel and subsequently sold it, attracting funds. The equipment, the total value of which is about 25 million hryvnias, was imported to Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid.
The organizer and curator of the criminal scheme was a 43-year-old resident of Lviv region - he “solved” the issue of obtaining permits from military units for the unhindered transportation of ammunition across the border allegedly for their transfer to the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the future, the equipment obtained in this way, in particular, body armor, they sold, appropriating the funds received.
The investigators informed the organizer of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 3 of Art. 28 Part 3 of Art. 201-2 (Illegal use of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous assistance committed by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment - imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property.
The other two members of the group were reported by law enforcement officers about the suspicion of committing a crime earlier.
The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are taking measures to quickly transfer body armor vests and other military equipment seized from intruders during authorized searches to our soldiers at the front.
