At the border with Poland, border guards exposed two bribers
Men who tried to illegally cross the state border by bribery were exposed at the checkpoints “Shehyny” and “Rava-Ruska” in Lviv region.
Last night, a 41-year-old man was followed to a neighboring country, who provided a passport of a US citizen to pass the inspection.
However, during the inspection, border guards established that the “foreigner” is a citizen of Ukraine. The exposure of the man did not stop and after being refused to cross the border, he tried to “solve the issue” with a bribe. In order to avoid responsibility and to cross the border unhindered, the pseudo-foreigner provided a bribe of $1,000, which was flatly refused.
The man was not allowed across the border and brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 204 KUPap “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine”. A legal assessment of his actions will be provided by the court.
Otherwise, a 32-year-old native of the Zaporizhzhya region during the border crossing claimed that he was escorting a disabled person. However, the husband did not provide the proper documents confirming his wife's disability for verification. To achieve his own and go abroad, the citizen offered a bribe in the amount of $500, which he was refused.
On these facts, the border guards informed the employees of the National Police. Responsibility for these offenses is provided for in Art. 369 of the Criminal Code “Offer or provision of unlawful benefits to an official”.
The bribers were handed over to law enforcement officers.
