On the border with Belarus, the engineering of the border continues
Due to the provoked migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the EU countries, Ukraine has significantly intensified the arrangement of the northern section of the border.
Since the beginning of November, about three dozen engineering groups of border guards have been constantly working on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. They install various kinds of barriers — from egoza, barbed wire, mesh netting, make portable barriers. Also, engineering teams are working on the arrangement of helipads to ensure the prompt transfer of reserves in the event of a sharp change in the situation in a certain area.
Since the beginning of the provoked migration crisis in the neighboring country, about 4,630 bays of spiral linear barriers have already been involved in the arrangement of Ukraine's border. A significant part of them was provided by local authorities of the Volyn region.
At the same time, 2460 bays border guards produced at their own capacity. For this purpose, the Main Center for the Training of Personnel of the State Border Guard Service in Cherkasy region has deployed its own production, which makes it possible to produce wire barriers, egoz, and rabitz mesh. Currently, three production lines are already continuously operating at these facilities.
Already today, border guards are able to independently manufacture barriers every day, which will allow to equip a section of the border with a length of up to three kilometers.
It should be noted that in accordance with the Government's order “On allocating funds for the implementation of measures related to strengthening the defense capability of the state”, UAH 21 million was allocated to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Currently, almost 300 tons of raw materials have been purchased, which will make it possible to manufacture barriers for the engineering overlap of about 62 km of the Ukrainian-Belarusian section of the border.
