In Kyiv region, the National Police liquidated a powerful drug laboratory
The attacker rented a house in the city. Boryspil, where he equipped a high-tech laboratory for the production of methadone. The drug was sold in bulk batches and at the same time established channels for the sale of the substance abroad.
The illegal activities of the offender were exposed by the operatives of the Department for Combating Drug Crimes together with the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It was established that a 42-year-old man rented a house in Kyiv region and equipped a drug laboratory with modern equipment and a special industrial chemical reactor. The capacity of such a laboratory allowed the “chemist” to produce about 200 kilograms of methadone every month.
He sold the finished product exclusively in wholesale batches, at the same time establishing international relations for further sale in the countries of the European Union.
Law enforcers with the strong support of the soldiers of the special unit of TOR detained the attacker during the manufacture of the next batch of drugs. During an authorized search of the location of the drug laboratory, the police seized 50 liters of methadone at the final stage of synthesis, laboratory equipment and precursors. The estimated cost of the seized drug at “black” market prices is about 30 million hryvnias.
It was also established that the man was already detained at the end of last year for committing a similar criminal offense in the territory of another region, but he was released on bail, moved to the city. Borispol and continued illegal activities. Currently, the offender has been detained, investigators have informed him of suspicion of illegal manufacture and sale of drugs in particularly large quantities (part 3 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and the Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for him — detention without the right to make bail.
For such actions, he faces up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
