In the de-occupied territories, the police documented more than 5,000 war crimes of Russians
Currently, the most war crimes have been recorded by the investigating police in the liberated territories of Kharkiv region. This was announced today, December 29, by the Head of the Department of Organizational and Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev at a briefing at the Military Media Center.
The policeman said that work continues on the restoration and observance of law order in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine:
“Stabilization measures are currently being carried out in 665 settlements. Currently, more than a quarter of a million citizens live on the territory of settlements liberated from Russian occupiers. Since then, the work of 20 police units has been resumed, of which 10 - in Kharkiv region, 7 - in Kherson region, 2 - in Donetsk region and 1 - in Nikolaev”, - said Alexey Sergeyev.
The head of the National Police Department added that residents of the de-occupied territories have the opportunity at any time of the day to contact the police on line “102” and report an incident or offense:
“To this end, 379 lines for remote reception of calls have been established in the state and effective work of operators has been established even during their stay in shelters — 166 jobs in bomb shelters have been equipped. During the full-scale war, our operators received and processed 6 million 700 thousand calls.”
During the briefing, Alexei Sergeev spoke about documenting war crimes of Russians in the de-occupied territories:
“Since the beginning of the de-occupation measures, the police in Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kharkiv and Kherson regions have discovered the bodies of 1,116 civilians, 31 of them children. In the de-occupied regions of these areas, police investigators documented 5,398 war crimes. The absolute majority of them — 4088 — in Kharkiv region, 609 — in Kherson, 542 — in Mykolaiv and 88 — in Luhansk region.”
In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the number of criminal proceedings initiated on the facts committed by servicemen of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and their accomplices is more than 53.7 thousand. Of these, the most: according to Art. 438 (Violation of the laws and customs of war) — 42,1 thousand, art. 110 (Invasion of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) — 9,2 thousand, Art. 111-1 (Collaborative activity) — more than 2.2 thousand
“According to the facts of cooperation with the aggressor country, 452 collaborators have already been notified of suspicion, and 243 proceedings of the relevant category have been sent to court,” Alexey Sergeyev said.
Also, an important element of the restoration of safe life in the liberated territories is their prompt demining.
“To date, employees of the explosives service have made 446 visits in Donetsk region, 25 - in Lugansk, 131 - in Mykolaiv, 1671 - in Kharkiv and 2274 - in Kherson. The total area of the surveyed territory in these regions exceeds 16.3 thousand hectares, and the number of seized explosive items is 184.4 thousand,” the speaker said.
The policeman added that the most dangerous in terms of mining density remains the territory of the Kherson region and the regional center itself.
Also, the National Police continues to document the facts of the organization by the Russians of places of illegal detention and torture of citizens of Ukraine. To date, the police have found 48 torture sites and places of deprivation of liberty in the territory of the de-occupied areas.
At the same time, Alexey Sergeev said that police officers of Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Kherson and Kharkiv regions continue to evacuate the population from the areas of hostilities, provide assistance to citizens on the ground, accompany humanitarian cargoes to the most remote points of the deoccupied settlements of Ukraine.
