In honor of the border guard Vladislav Buylkin, Hero of Ukraine and full knight of the Order “For Courage” in Odessa, the street was renamed (VIDEO)
The Historical and Toponymic Commission of the Odessa City Council approved the renaming of Bocharov Street in honor of the Hero of Ukraine, a Knight of the Order “For Courage” of the I, II and III degrees Vladislav Bujalkin.
Maritime border guards and the entire staff of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine with great honor remember their brother Vladislav Bulkin under the pseudonym Leshy.
Already in the first days of the annexation of Crimea, Vladislav wanted to mobilize for the army. He understood that the state at that time needed strong and motivated men, ready to consciously stand up for it. However, the military registration offices refused him, because he had no experience of army service. But Bulkin insisted, saying that he was motivated, physically hardy and able to shoot well and accurately, because he was engaged in parachute sports and sports shooting, in particular.
Subsequently, his talent, arguments and irritability had a result — in March 2014, Vladislav was mobilized to the Odessa Marine Guard Detachment.
For several months, senior sailor Bulkin mastered the marine specialty on one of the ships of the Navy. As part of the crew, he even managed to take part in last year's international Sea Breeze exercises. But he constantly appealed to the leadership to send him to the east.
Already in June 2014, Vladislav, together with other soldiers of the detachment advanced to the east of Ukraine, where they performed with honor and dignity the task of protecting the state.
As part of the “Kordon” grouping, the assembled units of border guards defended the authorized section of the border, in particular the Dovzhansky checkpoint. The aggressor's troops massively, with heavy weapons, fired on the border units. The checkpoint “Dovzhansky” was surrounded by armed soldiers of the Russian Federation. After 22 days of heroic defense, Ukrainian soldiers broke through the infernal circle with battles.
The whole country knows the case of how Vladislav Bujalkin saved the Ukrainian flag on Dovzhansky from destruction.
According to Vladislav, the flag, which was hung on the tower near the checkpoint, was a symbol of the presence of Ukrainian soldiers, their resilience and invulnerability. And after each of the attacks, Vlad always peered out of the shelter to make sure that the flag was intact and still flying.
When leaving the “Dovzhansky boiler”, the border guards replaced their positions. But Leshey did not want to leave the flag to the enemies for bullying. Without hesitation, he turned back through the mined area, climbed the tower, and carefully removed the flag. He could not do otherwise, because he considered it a matter of honor to keep the flag-symbol.
Vladislav was distinguished by remarkable courage, strength of spirit, wit and observation. He was well versed in the weapon and helped his brothers to master and shoot it as best as possible.
Bulkin was not a professional sniper, but decided to choose a sniper business for himself. First of all, because from the enemy side there was often sniper fire on our positions. And over time, Leschi became a real legend among the brothers.
During the execution of tasks in the ATO zone, he, as they say, “sat down” and counted and destroyed several enemy snipers. Once he even eliminated a sniper pair. It happened that he also took away their weapons as trophies. At one of these sniper “duels”, Vlad at night “took off” a Russian sniper from a trophy rifle. “This is a real cymes — to destroy the enemy with his own weapon,” Vladislav said after that successful “hunt”.
Defusing enemy snipers, Leshey sometimes acted so brazenly that he even took the opponent, so to speak, alive — let himself be detected and was ahead of the enemy literally for a moment.
In general, his courage and total calm in all situations were impressive.
“Vlad distinguished himself by always being focused and balanced and literally radiating calm around him. These features of him were so strong and vivid that at times, even in the most difficult situations during the environment, his calm and balanced reaction to events and gave me greater self-confidence. He seemed to be the source of that poise, calm, and “cold head” that conveyed confidence to many of those around him.
At the same time, Vlad was also fine with a sense of humor, which personally impressed me in him — Odessa, what else can you say here. And a person who has a good sense of humor always treats people well. Vlad always sincerely and with great respect treated his friends and comrades, both in communication and in deeds,” recalls his combat comrade, a border guard under the pseudonym “Phantom”.
Subsequently, in the fall of 2014, Vladislav Bulkin was sent to the Mariupol Marine Guard Detachment, where he also performed combat missions for several months.
A year after serving in the Marine Guard of the State Border Guard, in 2015 Vladislav Bujalkin transferred to the special unit of the Security Service of Ukraine. Participated in military operations in Avdiyivka, Zaitseve, Shyrokyne and Pisky, Donetsk Oblast.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, he participated in the defense of the Kiev region as part of the sabotage and reconnaissance group, destroyed the enemy BMP.
On March 20, 2022, he carried out a fire attack on enemy personnel and the probable location of the enemy headquarters near Makarov, Buchansky district, Kiev region. Returning from the task, the soldiers came under tank fire. Vladislav Bulkin died.
For the personal courage and heroism shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a significant personal contribution to strengthening the defense capability of the Ukrainian state, a true warrior Vladislav Bujalkin became a full knight of the Order “For Courage”.
In 2022, the President of Ukraine awarded him the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order “Golden Star” (posthumously).
A few days before the full-scale invasion, Vladislav asked, in case of his death in battle, “to become the four elements — fire, earth, water and air.” About this he told his wife Margarita and mentor and friend Konstantin Oborina.
Part of the ashes Margarita, Vlad's wife, laid in the Carpathian land, under young Christmas trees. On September 17 last year, on the birthday of the hero Konstantin Oborin, together with his wife and son Vladislav, ascended into the Odessa sky and scattered the rest of the ashes over Odessa, the sea and the take-off the strip of his native aeroclub.
A man with a capital letter, with a big heart and an all-encompassing love for Ukraine — this is what his fighting friends say about Vlad. So it will forever remain in our memory.
We are all proud that from now on one of the streets of Odessa will be named in honor of the brave warrior Vladislav Bulkin.
Glory and eternal memory to Hero!
