In Cherkasy region, the National Police detained more than 40 members of a criminal organization for the sale of drugs throughout the region (VIDEO)
According to the results of the activities, in which almost 700 law enforcement officers were involved, the activities of the criminal organization were neutralized. Its participants established the functioning of several laboratories for the production of amphetamine. Also, they were engaged in the cultivation of hemp on an industrial scale. On the sale of drugs, they earned up to 5 million hryvnias per month.
During the multi-stage police special operation to eliminate a powerful criminal organization, employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations and investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General, established all its participants, sales channels of psychotropics, as well as the locations of the so-called production workshops.
The group had more than 40 participants, and its activities were organized by two residents of Cherkassy. The criminal organization had three separate branches: amphetamine production, cannabis cultivation and drug sales in the region. In turn, the implementation was carried out by three separate groups with their leaders, who were accountable to the heads of the criminal organization.
The so-called production amphetamine workshop was located in Cherkassy. Its capacity allowed to produce up to 10 kg of “hair dryer” per month. Hemp was grown in several plots in the Kanivsky district, as well as in the apartments of several defendants. Hemp fields were at a distance of 50-100 km from each other.
Each production had its own security, technologists, as well as “foremen” who monitored the actions of all “workers”. Manufactured products were delivered to packing places, where a separate group was already preparing the goods for further sale and transfer to drug couriers. The participants identified by the leaders of the criminal organization were responsible for financial issues — collection of funds from sales, purchase of raw materials, issuance of “salary”, report to group leaders.
Amphetamine and cannabis were sold by bookmarks and “hand to hand” to residents of Cherkassy and the region. The drug business brought its organizers up to 5 million hryvnias per month.
In order to neutralize the activities of a criminal organization, law enforcement officers conducted a police special operation. It involved almost 700 people: operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations and Territorial Offices, investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police and regional police departments, special purpose police fighters and prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the results of the events, 39 people — organizers and participants — were detained. Earlier, four more defendants were detained, they are in a detention center.
In addition, more than 120 simultaneous searches were carried out on the places of residence of dealers, production of amphetamine and cultivation of hemp. Drugs, money, weapons, special equipment, cars, draft records and notebooks with “prescriptions” were seized. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seized reaches UAH 20 million.
40 members of the criminal organization were informed of suspicions and selected preventive measures in the form of detention. Criminal proceedings are investigated according to several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 255, Part 2 of Art. 255 (Creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it);
- Part 4 of Article 28, Part 1 and 2 of Article 307, Part 3 of Art. 307 (Illegal manufacture, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or marketing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues),
- part 4 of article 28, part 2 of article. 310 (Sowing or growing dreamy poppy or hemp).
Members of a criminal organization face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
