Border guards detained two air smugglers in Bukovina
Two men who tried to transport a batch of tobacco across the state border were detained by the operational officers of the Chernivtsi detachment.
Tonight, during the implementation of advance information on the likely movement of tobacco smuggling, border guards discovered the take-off and landing site of the unmanned aircraft.
The offenders set up an improvised command post and a place of take-off of an improvised aircraft on the outskirts of the village of Budenets, Chernivtsi district.
With the help of an airplane, a Bukovinian and a resident of Transcarpathia tried to transport tobacco products to Romania. The aircraft used by the offenders had the capacity to deliver 300 packs of cigarettes in one flight.
During the detention of smugglers, the border guards fired several warning shots, because the packers tried to escape when they saw the soldiers.
The offenders were detained, the investigative and operational team of the National Police arrived at the scene.
Subsequently, it also turned out that the men purchased an aircraft in Transcarpathia for 6 thousand euros and intended to illegally earn on tobacco smuggling.
