In Bukovina, border guards seized three cars in which dealers illegally tried to transport cigarettes
This weekend, border guards of the Chernivtsi detachment stopped three cars with which Romanian citizens wanted to illegally transport tobacco products.
During the inspection of minibuses “Mercedes” and “Ford” at the international automobile checkpoint “Krasnoilsk”, border guards together with customs officers discovered specially equipped caches. Using the design features of the vehicles, Romanian drivers hid 250 and 450 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps of Ukraine in cavities under the decorative trim of the ceiling and rear doors.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of tobacco products amounted to more than 45 thousand hryvnias. Also, Mercedes and Ford minibuses worth 350 and 400 thousand hryvnias, respectively, were seized for the illegal movement of tobacco.
Another Romanian citizen hid 100 packs of cigarettes in the front seat trim and in the plastic casing of the gearbox. The man was exposed by border guards at the Porubne checkpoint. The seized tobacco products are valued at 6 thousand hryvnias, and the Opel car at 100 thousand hryvnias.
