In Bukovyna, the police seized counterfeit alcohol and tobacco products for 1.3 million hryvnias
Among those seized are almost 500 liters of alcohol and more than 600 bottles of ready-to-sell products, as well as 29,000 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps.
Employees of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police and operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department exposed a group of persons engaged in the production and sale of counterfeit alcohol and tobacco products on the territory of the region.
The group consisted of three Bukovyns: a 47-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, residents of Chernivtsi, as well as a 49-year-old resident of Khotyn. The defendants sold products under the guise of well-known Ukrainian trademarks, using fake excise tax stamps, selling products in the retail network and in local markets.
Police conducted 5 authorized searches of the places of residence of the defendants.
Criminal proceedings are investigated under Articles 199 (Manufacture, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, importation into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale or sale of counterfeit money, state securities existing in paper form, state lottery tickets, excise stamps tax or holographic protective elements) and 204 (Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of marketing excisable goods) of the Criminal Code.
The issue of notifying attackers of suspicion of committing criminal offenses and choosing a preventive measure for them is resolved. The procedural guidance in the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.
