Today, June 14, the capital of Ukraine hosted a transfer of vehicles to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine from our partners from the British Fire Aid Foundation. The event also showcased vehicles provided by the governments of the United States, Japan and Estonia, some of which were purchased from the Ukrainian budget.

This includes 69 vehicles, in particular:

  • 29 vehicles, including tanker trucks, mobile control points, a pickup truck and a ladder truck, received from the UK-based NGO FireAID.

  • 10 radiation and chemical reconnaissance vehicles donated by the United States Department of Energy. The installed equipment allows for monitoring and analysis on the move.

  • 9 minibuses from Estonia, which will be used as drone control points and equipped with electronic warfare devices.

  • 2 armoured mechanized demining machines from the Government of Japan, 17 tanker trucks and 2 fire ladders purchased at the expense of the general fund.

The ceremony was attended by Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who expressed his gratitude to the partners for their technical support of the Ministry’s units. The Minister underlined that the enemy targets peaceful cities of our country every day and that modern equipment, including that for rescuers, is needed to respond to all challenges.

“Every day, our country is struggling with the consequences of enemy attacks on our country’s infrastructure. The enemy is also attacking the State Emergency Service units, which are saving people and unfortunately suffering losses. During the full-scale war, the enemy seized about 655 facilities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories, 27 of our units were completely destroyed, and 363 – partially destroyed. However, the most valuable thing the enemy targets is life. Unfortunately, 91 rescuers have already been killed during the war, and another 356 rescuers have been injured”, – stated Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

In his turn, Dave O’Neill, the Chair of Fire Aid and International Development, noted that the UK never tires of helping Ukraine and is constantly working to provide new assistance:

"We are very proud that we can lend a helping hand to your rescuers at such a difficult time. The British firefighters are here for you and will continue to provide our comprehensive support and assistance to their colleagues in Ukraine. And these donated vehicles illustrate our commitment".

Oksana Romanukha, the Fire Aid coordinator in Ukraine, noted that this is the seventh aid package from the foundation. The partners are currently seeking ways to increase their support for Ukraine to provide the State Emergency Service with even more equipment:

“We are hoping that the seventh convoy of humanitarian assistance is just an interim figure. Every day we think about expanding it, and our biggest aspiration is for the war to end so that we can move on to other forms of cooperation”

Ihor Klymenko stressed that all the equipment will be sent to 14 regions of Ukraine today to perform the most important task of rescuing people.

“Today we have received an extremely important technical reinforcement for the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. I am grateful to our partners for their continued help and support. I am convinced that the equipment provided will significantly enhance the work of the State Emergency Service units and, most importantly, will contribute to saving many lives”, – commented Andrii Danyk, the Acting Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

At the conclusion of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine personally examined the transferred equipment and touched upon the urgent needs of the rescuers with the latter.
