This became known during the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko with the Representative of the UN Women in Ukraine Sabina Fraser Gunesh.

Kateryna Pavlichenko expressed her gratitude to the representatives of UN Women in Ukraine for the consistent support and cooperation that has existed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UN Women over the past years.

“I want to note that thanks to cooperation with UN Women, we managed to achieve significant results in the issue of gender equality. However, we understand that we face new challenges caused by Russia's full-scale invasion. Therefore, we are already reviewing our activities on the introduction of equal rights and opportunities in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” the Deputy Minister noted.

The Parties agreed that the main areas of cooperation remain responding to and countering cases of gender-based violence, including conflict-related sexual violence and the implementation of the National Action Plan to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women. Peace. Security” for the period until 2025 at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Ways to deepen further cooperation in the humanitarian field are also considered.

In addition, UN Women will promote appropriate training for security sector personnel and gender audit in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This will make it possible to strengthen the institutional capacity of the department.
