Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the number of combatants has been growing every day, and the longer Ukraine goes to victory, the more veterans will need help in the process of returning to civilian life. This was noted today during the International Forum of Veterans and Volunteers, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko. She spoke about the system of transition from military career to civilian life of war veterans, an important element of which is psychological rehabilitation.

“Without the full restoration of human capital, the post-war reconstruction of the country is impossible. What is meant is the restoration of the physical and psychological health of our defenders and defenders. Within the framework of the National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program initiated by the First Lady, all relevant state and public institutions joined forces to find new or improve existing formats of assistance to our citizens, including war veterans,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.

The deputy minister stressed that there is a great demand for specialized psychologists who would be able to work with participants in hostilities. This is especially true for veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, since they have a double load today. These people are directly involved in repulsing the enemy and work with people who have also been affected by the war.

“The psychologists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs receive offline and online training according to the Israeli model of psychological assistance Israel Trauma Coalition. When we say that now, according to the National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program, everyone should become a psychologist, that is not an exaggeration. At least medics, rescuers, police, social workers and the military will definitely become them. Because we have to save each other not only from physical threat, but also from grief and stress,” said the Deputy Minister of Interior.

Recall: Psychologists of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were trained in Israel within the framework of the First Lady's project “National Program for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support”. The goal of the program is to provide assistance to anyone whose mental health has been damaged due to war.
