The Ministry of Internal Affairs has started cooperation with Amnesty International to record and investigate war crimes
From the first day of the war, the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine work in a strengthened mode and are maximally involved both in the defense of our country and in fixing the consequences of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian occupiers. In this work, expert support of partners is very important for Ukrainian law enforcement officers, because now everything is done for one common goal — to document and verify obvious and terrible violations of human rights.
Today, the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, headed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko, met with the team of the international human rights organization Amnesty International.
Secretary General Agnes Callamard expressed solidarity with the people of Ukraine and noted that Amnesty International experts are working with local authorities and the Government of Ukraine in investigating war crimes committed by Russia so that the whole world can learn about them. According to her, Amnesty International has a tough stance on those countries that are not ready to express a strong protest against Russia and believe that neutrality in the issue of war against Ukraine is appropriate.
The third month of the war continues and as of today, 10,005 criminal proceedings have been opened, initiated by investigators of the National Police of Ukraine on the facts of crimes committed by Russian servicemen and their accomplices. Some of them are:
469 criminal proceedings on the grounds of collaborative activity
74 criminal proceedings on the facts of crimes related to violation of the “green corridors”
15 criminal cases on the facts of the commission of criminal offenses against representatives of the media and their relatives
