The Ministry of Internal Affairs together with other ministries develops “Algorithm for providing psychological assistance and support in crisis situations”

Today, June 29, the first meeting of the working group on the development of the “Algorithm for providing psychological assistance and support in crisis and emergency situations” took place.

The group, which is headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko, includes representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Social Policy, the National Police, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the adviser to the Prime Minister, the director of which coordination of authorities of the Coordination Center for Mental Health Irina Mykychak.

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of creating at the state level an effective mechanism for inter-sectoral cooperation and coordination of actions to provide the victims with psychological assistance, support and support in crisis situations.

“After each emergency, those affected and their relatives are in serious psychological conditions.The number of such people, unfortunately, is growing. The State Emergency Service and NPU always work at emergency situations. Their main task is to eliminate the consequences and provide first aid. Of course, the first at the scene of the incidents are provided psychological assistance to the victims by the specialists of the psychological service of the SNS. However, people in such situations also need further support and psychosocial support,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.

During the meeting, the participants defined the areas of responsibility of each department. They also discussed how and when the stage of redirection of the affected person should take place from the psychologists of the SNS or NPU to other specialists.
