The Ministry of Internal Affairs is focused on providing quality and affordable psychological support services - Kateryna Pavlichenko
Today, February 21, during an extended meeting with the participation of representatives of the psychological services of the CID system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an audit of the needs and resources of the mental health service delivery system was presented. The audit was conducted within the framework of the initiative of First Lady Elena Zelenska to create the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program.
“In the conditions of war, the issue of psychological support comes to a new level of value and quality. We must thoroughly approach the psychological support of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and members of their families, provide affordable services. And we should also strengthen the skills of police and rescuers in providing first psychological assistance to civilians during emergency situations,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will actively work on the implementation of the approaches outlined in the presented vision of the new assistance system.
Executive Director of the NGO “Barriernost” Oksana Zbitnieva presented to departmental psychologists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the results of the audit of the mental health service delivery system and the needs audit. A comprehensive study was conducted in all ministries.
“The team of mental health specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the most powerful and we saw this during the audit. You have a defined understanding of functions and actions as the first line of contact. The psychologists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took a high pace to change, I thank you for your daily work and courage to carry it out,” said Oksana Zbitneva.
The All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, initiated by the President's wife, Elena Zelenska, aims to build an affordable system of psychological care.
The program provides:
- conducting an expert audit with the involvement of WHO specialists, on the basis of which a model of the assistance system will be developed;
- development of a step-by-step plan for the implementation of the model after its discussion with a wide range of representatives of the professional community, experts, and public opinion leaders;
- building a system of training, certification, monitoring the quality of training of psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors and psychologists working in the system of most ministries;
- training of family doctors, psychologists, social workers, educators of rapid methods of psychological support;
- creation of a register of specialists and methods, systematization of data, development of a model of retraining and retraining of personnel, a system of their involvement.
