Rescue in the Mountains mobile app saves lives in Poland
Rescuers received a call from a Polish citizen on the mobile application “Rescue in the Mountains”. During the communication, it turned out that a member of a tourist group that is in the mountains in Poland is calling and they need the help of mountain rescuers.
This information was passed on to Polish colleagues, who checked and confirmed the information — the group really needed help. The next shift Rejonowa Stacja GOPR Bieszczady Cisna was sent to the place of the call.
Please note: the mobile application “Rescue in the Mountains” was launched in Ukraine at the end of 2021. At this time there are already 2500 registered users. The application transmits SOS signals with geographical coordinates during the occurrence of extraordinary events in the mountains.
The innovative GRS monitoring system for tourists provides access to information about the location of tourist groups, in particular, in conditions of impaired coverage of mobile operators.
Before the trip, the tourist must register in the application. In case of a difficult situation in the mountainous area, the traveler can send an “SOS” signal with its exact geographical coordinates. The Rescue in the Mountains app is available for Android and iOS.
