“We are now in Bakhmut, in a trench so that February 24 will never happen again,” — Colonel Gitt of the State Border Guard
Today, Colonel Andriy Gitt is Deputy Head of the Luhansk Border Detachment. His subordinates heroically hold the defense of Bakhmut together with other units of the Defense Forces.
Colonel Gitt says that the enemy acts as standard. He noted that the Russians love the tactics of “scorched earth”, massively use artillery and mortars and do not count without the possible destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Andrei Sergeevich noted that at the beginning of a full-scale aggression, the enemy massively used armored vehicles. Recalls when to take a platoon stronghold that defended a 400-meter section, the Russians immediately engaged as many as five tanks and ten infantry fighting vehicles. However, the deputy head of the Luhansk border detachment noted a significant value reorientation of the occupiers.
“They are already trying to protect tanks and armored vehicles, but instead they use “waves” of infantry attacks to take over our positions, sending “Wagnerians” ahead of themselves. The same personnel military from the aggressor country never attack positions without preliminary “work” of artillery, they are afraid of direct combat. This is how they act, including in the Bakhmut direction,” says Andriy Gitt.
According to the colonel, now we are changing, getting stronger, taking into account the experience of our comrades in the Armed Forces, changing the structure of our units, mastering various types of weapons, and widely using unmanned aviation. And right now, a kind of security architecture of border units is being laid, which in the future, after our Victory, will come to the line of the state border with the aggressor country.
“This aggressive neighbor will not go anywhere and we will have to organize a security and defense system in this vast area under new conditions and new principles,” Gitt said.
Already now the border guard is thinking about what should be equipped border units that will cover more than two thousand sections of the border with the Russian Federation.
“Certainly those who, at least, can confidently withstand the first blow of the enemy. And the armament should be such that columns of armored vehicles begin to burn in the first meters after the violation of the state border. And the most important thing is for Ukrainians to clearly see and be convinced that February 24, 2022 will never happen again,” he notes. “And therefore, each of us, being in the trench now, clearly understands why here. It is necessary to gather all the will into a fist and act according to the circumstances, up to the full Victory,” adds Andrey Gitt.
